Daytona Beach, Florida Mayor Derrick Henry Honors Juneteenth Committee With A City Proclamation

Updated: Jun 21, 2020

Over 100 people attended a gathering in front of Daytona Beach City Hall yesterday, where Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry proclaimed June 19, 2020 as Juneteenth Day in the City of Daytona Beach. The Mayor thanked the Juneteenth Committee, who has put on a Juneteenth event in the City for the past 19 years, for their dedication to improving relations within the community and honoring the history of Juneteenth.

Due to the Coronavirus this year's events, including the Juneteenth Banquet at Embry-Riddle University and the festival were postponed. Juneteenth Chairwoman Linda McGee announced that next year's events would also include a Juneteenth Parade.
