On Friday the city of Daytona Beach made history by swearing in Deputy Chief Jakari Young as police Chief for the Daytona Beach Police Department. He became the agency's 17th police Chief in over 100 years and the first African American to serve in that role.
He is exceptionally qualified and is committed to working everyday to not only keep our community safe, but also improve the relationship between law enforcement and those they are sworn to protect and serve. His swearing in ceremony drew fellow colleagues, family members, and members from surrounding communities.
